Summary
This website "aims to help engage people in a discussion of both the positive and negative effects of change witnessed in Chicago's neighborhoods since the 1970s" by organizing census data by community area (available through clicking the appropriate area on a map of Chicago) and describing the Neighborhood Change Index.

Types of Available Data:
Gentrification Factors/Typology of Neighborhood Change
These spreadsheets consider the following factors:
Percent of School Children Enrolled in private school K-12
Percent of families below poverty
Percent of all workers in managerial and professional occupations
Percent of families with female head, no husband, and children under the age of 18
Percent per household or average household size

The “Typology of Neighborhood Change” spreadsheets consist of raw data.
In the “Gentrification Factors” spreadsheets, community areas receive scores of +/-1 or 0 when its data is compared to that of Chicago as a whole.
