This focuses on Chicago's community areas and is focused on 343 neighborhood clusters based on Chicago's 825 census tracts.

Sample Size, Design, and Methodology
Sampling was based on a random sample of adults within neighborhood clusters. The questions are most often use a Likert-Scale.

Variables Covered

The questions on the survey relate to individual residents' opinions of their neighborhood. This includes a self-description of what respondents call their neighborhood, what they describe the boundaries to be, and how long respondents have lived in the area. The respondents also answer questions about perceived views of violence, drug use, graffiti, and other crime and victimization characteristics of the neighborhood. Questions on relationships to neighbors such as the number of neighbors the respondent could recognize, and how often respondents socialize with neighbors are also included. The survey questionnairre is available for download from ICPSR.
