The best source of general information for each school is the 1989 - 2006 General and Demographic Data for Schools dataset. Data is included for each school for all years in the range, allowing for tracking longitudinal change within a school or doing a year-by-year comparison between schools.

Sample Size, Design, and Methodology
The number of schools reporting for a particular year is dependent on the number of schools being funded by CPS. This ranges from 561 schools in 1989 to 605 schools in 2006. The data is survey data of demographic information and general measures of school performance, such as graduation and dropout rates.

Variables Covered
Year; school; enrollment; proportion of students designated low income; daily attendance; truancy; racial/ethnic composition; average class size; dropout percentage; and graduation percentage.
